Symptoms of Back Pain

Causes of Back Pain
1.Osteoporosis: The bones become thin and brittle leading to compression fracture of vertebrae resulting in back pain. The vertebral column becomes so weak that it cannot withstand minor stress.
2.Obesity: Obese people experience back pain frequently. The pain is felt in the neck and lower back. Weight loss can help in reducing this type of back pain.
3.Sleeping Posture: The position and surface on which one sleeps may cause back pain, such as hard surfaces and mattresses. The soft surface tends to put strain on the spine. Some positional changes can reduce this type of back pain.
4.Improper Seating: Back pain can be caused by sitting in an improper position for a prolonged period of time. Maintaining a good and straight posture, using ergonomically designed chairs, taking break for few minutes every hour and stretching helps to cure such back pain.
Home Remedies for Back Pain
1.Ask someone massage the affected area with herbal oils using knuckles and increasing pressure slowly. After a few minutes you will feel less discomfort. This gets rid of tension and relaxes the muscles in that area.
2.Every time you lift something, remember to bend your knees first, this will prevent your lower back from getting tense causing damage to your spine and back muscles.
3.Never twist while lifting this can have bad effect on your vertebrates.
4.Avoid lifting heavy objects in the last couple of weeks of your pregnancy.
5.Do not sit in couches, always sit in firm chairs supporting the lumbar area with a pillow. This will help you keep your waist and lower back in the proper position.
6.Apply St. john’s wort directly to the back area.
Dietaries for Backache
The diet of those suffering from backache should consist of a salad of raw vegetables such as tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, radish, lettuce, and, at least two steamed or lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, carrot, spinach, and plenty of fruits, except bananas. The patient should have four meals daily. Fruit and milk are advised for breakfast, steamed vegetables and wholewheat wheat tortilla for lunch; fresh fruit or fruit juice in the evening; and a bowl of raw salad and sprouts during dinner.
The patient should avoid fatty, spicy, and fried foods; curd, sweetmeats and sugar; condiments; and tea and coffee. Foods that have been processed for preservation have few nutrients and should also be eliminated from the diet.
