Bushcraft equipments

Bushcraft is all about surviving in the natural habitat without the luxury of modern amenities and luxuries. It is indeed a craft of living and learning in the lap of nature that requires surviving skills, knowledge and decisiveness. Bushcraft involves different factors and for the same reason requires different equipments. Building shelter, preparing food and protecting oneself are the basic factors involved in Bushcraft. Let’s check out some of the common bushcraft items used by most people in most countries.

Shelter

Shelter is the most important part of bushcraft as its just nature and you out there. You need proper covering to keep yourself warm and, if you are camping in a forest, keep you away from the eyes of wild animals. Hammocks, tents, sleeping bags, basha, etc. are some of common means that provide shelter for you.

Food and water

Though you might think you can survive on canned food and sandwiches, those cannot be sufficient for more than a day. Besides, preparing your food while on a camp is part of the fun too. There are different items that can let you prepare food in the wilderness. Ovens and barbecues thus let you enjoy hot and tasty food on camps.

Water, of course, is the other crucial factor. The main thing you need to remember here is that water is necessary not just for drinking but also for washing and cleaning. You might be camping next to streams or ponds but that would hardly suffice to provide you drinking water. For bushcraft you need, therefore, water filters that can provide water that is safe and free from viruses and bacteria and bottles that are air tight.

Weapons

The next important factor is of course protecting yourself from external dangers. In a camp more than the modern weapons what you require is basic, light weight objects like knives and hatchets that can also serve as important tools while building tents and making food.

Clothing

Clothing is also bushcraft equipment which most people don’t give much thought to. When it comes to clothing it depends on the kind of place you choose for bushcraft. Remember, it’s not looks that matter while selecting clothing for bushcraft. It has to provide you warmth while spending nights outside, it has to keep you hidden and it shouldn’t become an obstacle in your movement. Hence, make sure you select clothing that can help in all these.

Finally, a bag that can contain all these items completes the bushcraft equipment. A good bag that qualifies for these needs would of course be a little expensive. However, it is a one-time investment that would prove worthy of what you pay.

In spite of all these, bushcraft becomes a great experience not when you have all these but when you use them wisely and have fun at the same time. You could buy them for yourself as well as to gift it to someone.
