Cancer Survivor Wants Love and Attention

My husband, a prostate cancer survivor, is an emotional man, or a worrier. To him, each little thing can be a problem, He can get depressed by any ache, pain, smell, and doctor’s appointment. He always is.


We can’t stop the aging process. The Cancer is gone and there’s no guarantee it won’t show up somewhere else in his body at a later date. If we spend all our waking moments on the “what ifs” of life, we won’t be making love any time soon.


The best we can do is to focus on today and how we’re alive and pay attention to each other. If we find a way to share moments that are loving, we might just enjoy something. We must find a way to love each other.


As human beings we desperately want to be loved We want to feel good. Don’t you want your partner to feel good even if you don’t feel fabulous? Could love and get some attention help to take your mind off of your problems?. We believe that any amount of time you focus on something that feels good is good.


How can you have more love and get more attention in your life? Make love and attention a priority. Put it on the top of your to-do list. Do it every day and smile more. The more you are happy, the less you are depressed.


How can you get in the mood when you just don’t feel so good? It takes work. The results can be so wonderful that the work is worth the effort. Let’s look at the other side of the equation. What could happen to your relationship if you ignore each other all the time, you refuse to pay attention to each other, and you are miserable and depressed more than you are happy?


Some people just don’t know where to start to enhance their love life. Think of the simple, beautiful things in life.When my husband is feeling down I try to do something that is loving and pampering for him. To make hands and feet feel better we’ll do a manicure and pedicure. I always find the right lotions or cremes to make his hands and feet feel great. Make rough hands and nails smooth and you enhance touching experiences.


If you’re at home change the television to a different channel, listen to some different sounds or music, and look at some new content on your computer. Go to the library and check out something that you consider inspirational or exciting. Break your routine and do something new each day. Make life more fun. The only thing you have to lose is your depression.
