Eat healthy food. Getting rid of those ugly love handles means you should take notice of what you are putting into your body. That means, the food you eat. Exercise is important and necessary. But don’t think you can remove love handles with that alone. Before ridding your body of fat, think of what you are taking in.
A balanced diet never fails. Drink 5-8 glasses of water each day and eat lots of fruit and vegetables Fats, oils and sweets must be taken only sparingly. Swap your diet every now and then between fish and poultry over pork and beef.
One misconception is starving yourself. That will just make you hungrier during the next meal, and you’ll eat more than you would have normally eaten. Which can make you even tubbier. So never skip meals. People who skip breakfast eat more during lunch, so they are unknowingly defeating the purpose they are trying to starve themselves.
Removing love handles always starts with a good, healthy, balanced diet.
Go for a regular exercise. That means some form of exercise at least three times a week. In fact, a few minutes of exercise done regularly can be more effective than lumping them in say, a 2 hour period on the weekend. Instead, 20 minutes, three times a week is the better way to go. You can go walking, jogging, biking, or swimming. Just do something that gets the heart rate up.
If going out for a walk or jog is too taxing or too painful to think about, you can always opt for indoor exercises. You can purchase CDs on aerobics and other workouts and do them without having to leave your house!
To get rid of love handles, working out the whole body first is a must. But remember, one key is to exercise regularly. You can’t omit it one day just because you don’t feel like it. Employ some self-discipline. Choose particular days when you can do your exercise. Then choose a particular time. Say, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:00-6:30pm. Be concrete, or else, you’ll never get round to achieving anything.
Schedule your exercise. Set aside time. If you don’t schedule it, some other seemingly more important and more interesting thing will catch your attention.
Mix whole-body exercises with those that focus on the love handle area. Apart from that regular exercise, put in some minutes when you can focus on the love handles area.
Below are some love handle exercises you can do.
1. Basic crunches.
2. Twist crunches. Lie on your back, bring your left elbow to your right knee by twisting. Do this also with the other side.
3. Flutter Kicks. Lie on your stomach. Alternately lift your legs, as if you’re swimming.
Keep also in mind the proper way of doing these exercises. Remember not to strain your back and neck.
These exercises work hand in hand with your regular exercise. Regular exercise burns fat, including those in the love handle area. So if you just do crunches for example, and omit the jogging, you’ll never lose your love handles. Start burning your regular fat, then, do some of the exercises mentioned above.
Make a list. You want your love handles to disappear. That’s why you’re reading this article. Very good. But are you really determined to get your body in good shape again? If you really are, then plan for it. Write it down. Writing things down sort of seals a pact with yourself. Note what days and how long you will do your exercise for. Make a list of food you need to eat less, and the foods you need to eat more. Have everything in concrete terms. If you plan, and stick to it, you’ll be saying goodbye to those love handles in no time!
