Moms: Get A Grant And Go To School

The US economy continues to struggle, and that unfortunately leaves many people with uncertain futures. A lot of laid off workers haven’t had chances to secure new jobs. In some job fields there is little room for new workers. Unfortunately the future isn’t bright in all areas. The condition of the job market may remain for many more months.

Although things are bleak now, there is a silver lining created by providing economic opportunity for several different pursuits. The Obama administration and Congress have taken steps to make home ownership more attainable and to protect consumers in several areas. Other serious changes have been made regarding education. Making sure institutions perform well on all levels is important, and there has been particular attention paid to colleges and universities. One important result is the Obama Grants for Mothers program. Building for the future begins with educating moms.

Obama scholarships for moms come from the federal Pell Grant allotment. To help out single mothers, the Pell Grant allotment was increased to $ 5,000. Working moms as well as at-home moms can use the grant to pay for any education expenses. Tuition, room and board and travel expenses are some of the items that are considered school-related expenses. Another benefit is that school options are very flexible. Two- and 4-year colleges and universities are acceptable. There are even some online study options.

To begin the process of applying for aid it’s important to fill out the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is the most important step in order to get an award. There are also many other resources to help you learn about what is available for you. There are private scholarships as well as state and federal. Checking a school’s financial aid web page or calling the office is also a good way to get information about available money.

In the realm of education, scholarships and grants are a key component for a strong system. Education is key to help moms of all types succeed and strengthen their families. Of course education’s impact on families now and in the future is the primary function of the President’s grants for mothers. One key to the future is to provide educational opportunities and to gain knowledge now. BOLA TANGKAS
