There is believed to be a very strong connection between what you eat and whether or not you suffer from fibroids. Of course, your diet is not the only factor, but it can be the “tipping point” if other contributory factors are present, such as lifestyle issues and genetic tendency. What is sometimes overlooked is the fact that what not to eat with fibroids is just as important. Indeed there are certain foods which, when consumed regularly are thought to contribute to fibroid growth.
In general, a diet which is high in refined carbohydrates, over-processed foods, high fat foods, acid-forming foods and those which are produced using chemicals can affect the natural processes within cells and contribute to hormonal imbalances. These foods can impair digestion and prevent the normal elimination of toxins.
If you are trying to shrink your fibroids naturally, then one of the most important steps to take is to change your diet. Although not exhaustive, the following will give you some general guidance in respect of what not to eat with fibroids.
Conventional Dairy Products
Believed to aggravate fibroids by sometimes causing allergies and inflammation. They can create heavy mucous which could clog the digestion and become a little like glue in the bowels. Cows are sometimes fed on foodstuffs which have been treated with pesticides and often, the cows themselves are injected with hormones and antibiotics. If you do choose to eat dairy foods, ensure they are organic.
Refined Carbohydrates
High on the list of what not to eat with fibroids are refined carbohydrates. When eaten, they become a glue-like substance which can, like dairy produce, clog the digestive system resulting in toxic build up.
White Sugar
Processed sugar has been stripped of its fiber and nutrients ands when eaten, causes the blood sugar to rise rapidly and insulin to be released. There is then a quick dip in blood sugar levels and when this situation arises repeatedly, can result in diabetes in susceptible women. Other hormones are also involved in the process and this can cause hormonal imbalances, resulting int strain on the liver. Sugar can also compromise the immune system. You should look out for hidden sources of sugar, such as that in drinks, in date sugar, corn syrup and glucose.
Processed Meats
Even in its natural state, conventional red meat and fatty meat can be bad for fibroid sufferers, particularly if it is not produced organically. Red meats can take a long time to pass through the digestive system, causing the release of toxins. However, even higher on the list of what not to eat for fibroids are processed meats such as sausages, bologna and bacon.
Alcohol and Caffeine
Caffeine can stimulate hormonal production and create an imbalance which can contribute to fibroid growth. Alcohol is a known toxin and can create liver disfunction, and a poorly performing liver is known to be a factor with fibroids.
Of course, as well as what not to eat with fibroids, there are other foods which are deemed to be essential if you are wanting to eliminate your fibroids. There are also other protocols to follow which, when combined with dietary changes can result in significant shrinkage and elimination of your fibroids.
Written by a nutritionalist, health writer and former fibroids sufferer herself, the system I recommend is groundbreaking.
