The range of contaminants includes pesticides, herbicides, lead, chlorine, prescription drugs, VOC’s, THM’s and ammonia. Our increasing dependence on household chemicals along with waste from industry and agriculture means more and more is getting into the drinking water.
The municipal treatments always tell us that everything is fine, but many experts fear their outdated methods are putting lives at risk. For example, chlorine is still used to disinfect the water, but while this has wiped out cholera and typhoid, it is also responsible for rising cancer deaths today.
Chlorine is a toxic substance and should be removed from your water before using. It combines with other contaminants to form THM’s such as chloroform which can lead to cancer.
It is a fact that if you use unfiltered chlorinated water, you have a 93% higher chance of getting cancer.
